This antique two-door chest from the Ningbo area showcases a lovely bone-inlay floral motif on hardwood. A rare find, as this specific inlay style is seldom seen on chests with carrying handles, appearing more frequently on larger furniture like beds. The work exemplifies the local Ningbo tradition of bone-on-hardwood (Hong-Mu) craftsmanship. While the material's texture lends a bolder, more 'naive' finish compared to delicate ivory work, it offers a lively and moving folk aesthetic. Dimensions circa W: 80 – H : 50 – D: 40 cm.
